Riots and Roses
Black friday: Riots and Roses
Behind the Scenes
So getting back into the swing of things, I recently had a photo shoot with an amazing stylist, Danielle for her portfolio she’s working on and of course I was very excited to be a part of it. It was set in a awesome studio in midtown with a few great people that are amazing at their jobs. Can’t wait to show you guys the finish product!
Here are some behind the scene shots from the day! It was a blast working with everyone and of course I wish I could have kept all the clothes and accessories! We all know I lack a sense of style ha!
I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress lately, both personal and professional. It’s not my brightest hour, but I’ve been dealing and that’s the best thing I can do right? Right! I decided I need a change of pace and environment, and since we’re starting at point A again, why not start at something I want to do, something that I would enjoy doing and makes me happy. So I guess in short, the day I died was the day I started to live again and there is no turning back.
I think sometimes you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. When you do have a beautiful thing and it’s so good and it’s so beautiful, you think it’s always going to be there, you take it for granted. I guess that’s it…
Till The Dawn of Time
On a recent road trip to New Jersey I experienced what seemed to be the greatest of all sunsets. Can’t begin to describe how amazing it was, these pictures don’t come anywhere near to capturing that very moment. Sunsets have to be the most beautiful event that occurs on a daily basis and only last for a few minutes. With it’s dramatic start up high in the sky, coming down slowly and enveloping the whole sky with colors that will put a box of 64 crayola to shame, the perfect lighting for any scenario, a photographers dream lighting.
P.S All film, finally getting the hang of this.
The other day I bumped into the lovely Erika from Flock Earrings, and of course she had one of her handmade pieces that I featured on the blog couple weeks ago..
Store on BigCartel coming soon! Till then check out her blog.
My Purse Survival Kit
So the other day one of my male friends asked me why do girls carry so much crap in their bags, simple: “they’re all necessities we need on a daily basis”. So I figured I’ll dissect my bag and explain why I might need all of this “crap”..
-First of all is my wallet, can’t go anywhere without that. It holds my ID,money, credit cards, metrocards and the occasional newspaper horoscope clipping. (only when its a good day)
-Mascara and blush is all you really need, especially in this heat, so keep it simple. SAY NO TO CAKE FACE. (NARS Orgasm Blush is my fave blush in life, thnx Emily for putting me on)
-Chapstick, yea I totally carry around 3 different kinds of chapstick. Sometimes my lips call for a different brand of smooth. (Just making up some excuse as to why I have 3 lol)
-Sunglasses, usually I carry around 2 different pairs. Lighter ones for during the day and a darker pair for night time stunting (yea right) or early morning diner visits after a long party or one of the many long nights I have with my friends.
-Lighters, yea I don’t smoke but I like being prepared “Hey do you have a lighter?” “Why yes I do” BOOM instant awesome girl with the lighter.
-Lotion, don’t be the ashy larry of the group. Carry around some for all the brick punchers out there with ashy knuckles.
-Contact case, well technically I’m almost blind so I wear clear contacts and what cuter way then a pink case to support breast cancer.
-Simple jewelry, just got this cute ring from Topshop and YSL heart cutout bracelet as a birthday gift last year. Loves.
-Memory stick, it’s basically my portfolio pics and resume. Always good to be prepared.
-Last but not least my iphone that I’m currently obsessed with and is totally my life line. The other phone is my new Windows 7 phone that I got gifted to test run, more on that soon in a following post.
This is just a light load, I’ve been known to carry a spare change of shoes on occasion (Ask Marcus and B lol)
FOOD | Hashi
If you know me you know I love to BRUNCH, mostly on the weekends but I’m not opposed to doing it on the weekday too, ha! My cousin took me to this cute little spot uptown on 214th and Broadway, also known as “The Heights” where we decided to settle in, get some drinks and see what the menu had to offer.
We got 2 rolls as appetizers because we all know I can eat. Shrimp Tempura roll and a avocado and Salmon roll…
For the main dish I got a Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box which consist of Chicken Teriyaki (obviously) rice, California roll, mixed greens salad and Pork Gyoza’s with some kind of mango sauce on top.
It was basically to die for, and it wasn’t too heavy so I had room for dessert *giggles*. I think the salad was a nice touch, along with the mango sauce (I later found out Hashi is Japanese/Hawaiian fusion food, makes sense) I’ll definitely be back with some friends.
I’ll Be Late For That..
First and foremost I would like to apologize for the lack of post and updating everyday, just transitioning with the weather and rearranging a few things in my personal life and blogger life. So with that said I had a amazing brunch the other day with my favorite blogger friends and got a little motivated to take care of my child (my blog duh) but other then that I love spending time with these guys, they inspire me.
The most amazing pancake and banana combination at Ideya restaurant in SoHo, yummz..
Of course being the typical Virgos we are B, Marcus and I all got the same thing.
West side adventures, finally meeting up with Will to complete the circle, Well technically the square since it was 4 of us right? ahh whatever lol
The perfect storm, B captured us brainstorming by the pier with her blackberry and sunglasses lol. Pretty dope pic
Make sure to check out my lovely friends sites
STYLE | Marc by Marc Jacobs Yo Yo Rain Tote
I’m obsessed with totes and when I saw this bad boy in my mail box I knew I had to have it, so I went and broke my piggy bank and counted all my change lol. The Marc by Marc Jacobs rain tote comes with a slot to hold your matching umbrella, so not only do you stay dry but you look amazing doing it! This is definitely a April Shower must have, and for a cool $248 (Nothing right? lol) I’ll take it in both colors!
Water resistant tote with slot to hold the matching umbrella! Exterior: 100% PVC. Lining: 100% Cotton Link
“While You Were Out”
I recently picked up a old issue of Entrepreneur Magazine at my dentist office and read this article in the back of the magazine that caught my eye..
Where has the the “cubicile” and “office space” gone? We are always working. Should we always be working? Where do we cross the line? Is writing up emails to clients during dinner rude now a days?
Oh, I forgot, you’re never out. You’ve got your cell phone in your pocket all the time, and wherever that is, you’re on duty. And the rare exceptional moment when you are out, a computer plays tag for you.
Wait. I was wrong. Never mind about the out thing. You don’t even have to be in, do you? What’s the point of paying money for a cubicle somewhere when your entire office fits into your laptop? There is no in. You say you miss the receptionist? She works at Starbucks now, you can visit her there.
Say goodbye to carbon paper, rubber stamps, a fax machine, the storage cabinet, the coffee cart guy, the office librarian, the secretary who sat in front of your door and guarded it, the guy who used to make announcements over the office call speaker to find someone when a delivery came, slide carousels for presentations, the team that made the slides, the woman who carried the slide projector, the copy machine, the curator of the company art collection, the man in the suit who fixed the PBX, the PBX, the guy in the mailroom (and the mailroom itself) and yes, sadly, the three magazines you used to read every month that were the sole source of business insight.
That’s OK, though, because we also get to say goodbye to the two meetings a day we had with everyone in the office, mostly because everyone was in the office and we didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. And we get to say goodbye to finger-pointing when a project hits a hiccup, because the timelines online don’t lie.
I know it’s difficult to imagine, but what’s a briefcase? What’s a brief? Is it something you brought with you to a chamber of commerce meeting? Or wore under your suit?
What’s a suit?
What’s your verdict?
